Forget the red shed on Top Gear, here is a Toyota Hi Lux that really has had a hard life with little maintenance. Instead of popping a caliper piston or collapsing a disc, the brakes just carried on wearing steadily until the iron was a mere 1mm thick. Yes, really....

Did anyone catch any of the Daytona 500 at the weekend? I saw about 15 minutes of it, mostly taken up by a break for them to repair the track surface. As exciting as the racing was, this clip from The Onion sums it up pretty concisely...
